We invite you to participate in the fifth annual State Farm Embrace Life® Awards to share the life lessons of the inspirational people you know.

Since 2004, State Farm has honored five women with an Embrace Life Award each year. This year, marking the fifth anniversary of the program, a group of 13 men and women, who have lost a spouse or parent, will be awarded with $10,000 each and a trip for two to Chicago to be recognized at the Embrace Life Awards Ceremony on Aug. 25, 2008. Tell us your story of a somone who Embraced Life in an essay of 1,000 words or less.

Entries should include the following information; judging will be based on these weighted criteria:

  1. A brief history of the nominee and the circumstances leading up to the loss of his/her spouse or parent (10%);
  2. How the nominee moved beyond his/her grief to Embrace Life and inspire others (50%);
  3. How the experience changed him/her (20%);
  4. What he/she would do differently and what advice, both personally and financially, he/she would offer others facing a similar situation (20%).
